New Online Training: Benedict’s Law

Benedict’s Law is a UK law mandating allergy safety measures in all schools in England, including policies, staff training, emergency medication, and individual care plans.

Key Requirements for Schools

From September 2026, schools are expected to implement the following measures annually:

Whole-School Allergy Policy: Schools must develop, publish, and regularly review a comprehensive allergy policy, separate from general medical conditions policies, and display it on their website.
Staff Training: All staff, including teachers, caretakers, lunchtime supervisors, and transport staff, must receive training in allergy awareness and emergency response
Emergency Medication: Schools must hold spare, in-date adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs) for use in any child or adult experiencing anaphylaxis
Individual Care Plans: Pupils with serious allergies must have individual healthcare and action plans, covering food, animal, and venom allergies

To help schools prepare for mandatory changes from September 2026, this course has been updated in line with statutory guidance ‘Allergy safety in schools’, through which Benedict’s Law is implemented.
